Amarok Tracks - Do it yourself

Do it yourself1. What is Amarok Tracks? Amarok is a one track album lasting over 60 minutes but, as according to the inner sleeve notes made by Mike, this long track can be splitted into several short tracks making its listening more pleasent and comfortable, giving you the chance to jump forward and backward. The inner sleeve notes are a good guide but they are incomplete and give shifted timings, but according to this notes and the ones found in Mike's FAQ one can split the whole album into 52 tracks after a carefullly listening. Even the FAQ has a few mistakes, imho, so this CD contains the result of my point of view of how Amarok can be divided in multiple tracks.

2. What do I need? Well, of course you need the original album, no matter if it is the original release or the HDCD remix; a good ripping program (may I recommend you EAC?) and a burning program capable of reading cuesheet, in particular, CDRWin.

3. What is a cuesheet? The cuesheet file is the heart of Disc-At-Once recording. This file defines all of the files to be recorded and the starting time of each track/index. This file gives you complete control over the layout of the disc. You can control the spacing between tracks, plus define subindexes, pregaps, postgaps, media catalog numbers, and ISRCs. Cuesheet files are standard text (ASCII) files.

4. Step by step. First, download the cuesheet for Amarok Tracks. Rip all the CD to your hard disk as a wave file and name it amarok.wav. Put the wave file and cuesheet in the same directory. Read the cuesheet with CDRWin and burn the CD in DAO mode (CDRWin does it by default). Listen. Have fun with next and previous track buttons on your CD player. There you have it!

5. What's all this code in the cuesheet? Have a look at it and you will find it pretty easy to understand. Starting times for each track are given as <mm:ss:ff> being minutes, seconds and frames. There are 75 frames or cd sectors per second.

6. Titles and times. Each track has it's name so write this down:
